Day 5 | Church & Community

Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The local church, or the Body of Christ as scripture teaches, is the institution that Christ uses to accomplish his mission. The passage above really helps us understand the importance of belonging to a local church or body of believers. Understanding the significance of consistent church attendance is likened to planting a seed. Consistency surpasses intensity; attending church weekly facilitates lasting life changes. Our faith journey resembles a marathon, not a sprint. By consistently participating in church, you gradually build your faith and strengthen your relationship with Jesus.

On Sundays, expect communal worship, praising God and acknowledging His greatness. Romans 10:17 emphasizes faith through hearing the good news about Christ, and our services offer solid Bible teaching to build faith.

1 Peter 4:10 (NLT) emphasizes, “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”

Recognize your unique creation by God, shaped by diverse backgrounds and experiences. You are unparalleled, with distinct gifts, talents, and abilities. Utilize these gifts to serve others, fostering growth in your faith and relationship with Jesus. Embrace the opportunity to make a difference by employing the uniqueness of your gifts given to you by God.

God desires us to be servants, not mere consumers. Serving is the highest honor and position. Rather than just attending church, we encourage using your God-given talents and passions to serve others. This not only fosters faith and a relationship with Jesus but also brings fulfillment and satisfaction.
