First 5 days of a believer: DAY 1 - RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Isn’t it amazing that Jesus came to save people from all of your sins and mistakes. One of the verses we read is in 2 Corinthians 5:17, teaches us that when we make the decision to follow Jesus, we become entirely new people. It’s similar to taking off the old jersey and putting on a new jersey.

He came on this earth, died on the cross, and forgave your sins, so that He can have a relationship with you. He loves you and wants to be a part of every day of your life

Jesus exchanged places with us. We deserved death and punishment for our sins and mistakes, yet Jesus, in His perfection, took the punishment that we deserve and put it on Himself. Because of this selfless act of love, we get all the benefits and blessings from Jesus: forgiveness, love, redemption, mercy, grace, and so much more!

Our sins have been forgiven and we can now have a new life and relationship with Jesus, but that’s not all! Because of what Jesus did on the cross and because you have decided to follow Jesus, your eternal destination is secured! That means after we leave this earth, we get to spend all of eternity in Heaven, continuing our relationship with Jesus. This is good news!

Remember, the key to having a solid relationship is to be consistent in the small things. Some of those things are communicating with God, spending time reading the bible, being in proximity to other followers of Christ and so forth. To put it plainly, proximity to Christ will lead you to have a better understanding of who God is and who you are.

KEY BIBLE VERSES

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Then old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 (ESV)

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

PRAY:

Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross and taking away my sins. Thank you for your forgiveness, love, and redemption. Help me to have a strong relationship with you and give me the strength to turn to you every time I mess up and make a mistake. I love you and am excited to start this new relationship with you. AMEN.

NEXT STEPS:

The next step in your new found relationship with Jesus will be to be baptized. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus. It’s going public with your faith!

This next step is so important that Jesus himself modeled it for us in Matthew 3:13-17, which is being baptized by immersion. At the inception of the church, people have been getting baptized as a symbol of our new life and new relationship with Jesus. In essence, it shows that the old self is now gone, and the new self is here.

Your Salvation is not something that can be earned — it is a gift from God through Jesus. Even if you stumble, come back to Jesus and allow Him to lead you again into the only relationship that fulfills.
